STRAP REVIEW: Horus Snow Camouflage Rubber Strap for Panerai

Brian H. August 5, 2016

This Horus strap was reviewed on 5 different criteria.  The review is for this specific strap, other straps may perform differently.  Evaluation is based on my wrist size, personal opinions, experiences, and preferences.  If you would like to submit your product for a review, please contact me.

Overall Design | 17 out of 20
If you are a fan of camo print, this Horus strap might be the perfect strap for your 47mm Panerai or any other watch with a 26mm lug width.  I remember seeing them for the first time on Instagram and thinking awesome and controversial.  This paradoxical strap, is unoriginal while also being original at the same time.  Unoriginal because the strap is essentially identical to the Panerai OEM rubber strap sans the words "OFFICINE PANERAI" but with the addition of the camo print on top.  To their defense, why change a design that simply looks perfect on the Luminor?  Original because the camo print is definitely something that I had never seen before and I love it.  Why didn't anyone think of this before?  Simply genius... So if you like the design of Panerai's standard rubber strap and camo print in general, then these straps are a no-brainer!  They come in various camo colors and lug width sizes (22mm, 24mm, and 26mm), so rest assured that you will find a color that you will like and a size that will fit for Panerai.  The strap comes with a pre-V style tang buckle (spring bars) with your choice of brushed or PVD finish and two keepers with matching camo pattern.  The brand's name "Horus" is cleanly engraved on the top of the buckle.  The tang buckle matches perfectly with the strap and combined they will transform your Luminor into one sexy timepiece.  That is right... your Luminor will look even sexier with this strap.  For the review, the strap was paired with my PAM 305 and I absolutely love the results!

The perfect strap for the PAM 305.

Quality and Durability | 18 out of 20
My initial impression when I first saw these straps in person was W-O-W.  Honestly, I was very impressed.  The thing that bothers me about aftermarket rubber straps for Panerai is that they always get the thickness (too thin) or the softness (not soft enough) of the straps wrong.  Not Horus though.  The thickness of the strap is spot on... Actually, it appears that the entire strap is identical to the Panerai OEM rubber strap in terms of dimensions.  But what about the softness?  That is spot on as well... It is actually softer than the Panerai OEM rubber strap, which is a huge plus in my opinion.  Furthermore, kudos to Horus for having the party line of the strap (where the two molds meet to create the strap) closer to the bottom of the strap rather than on the center of the strap.  This results in a much cleaner look for this injection molded piece.  The base color of the strap is light gray.  The top side of the strap is printed with the camo pattern (black and dark gray) while the back side is left untouched.  "Horus" is proudly marked on the back side of the strap.  My only complaint is that the camo print is a bit inconsistent inside the crevices of the strap.  It looks as if the ink was not able to get quite in there for that consistent pattern.  Given that the camo pattern is printed on the rubber strap, I am interested in finding out if the print will eventually rub off.  The print on this strap is still as good as new as of the writing of this review.  I will update this review at the end of the year and report the condition of the print.  Another thing that I noticed about this strap is that it is not dust resistant like other high-end aftermarket rubber straps (e.g. Everest or Rubber B)... But considering that this strap is significantly cheaper when compared to those brands, the absence of this feature is justifiable.

Quality, fit, and finish is fantastic.

The back side of the strap is not printed.

Operation and Fitment | 20 out of 20
This particular strap has a 26mm lug width and is meant to be used with the 47mm Panerais.  They do not have stainless steel tubes preinstalled like the Panerai OEM rubber straps, but they are honestly not necessary (specially if you have the quick strap change system on your watch like the one on the PAM 305 used for this review).  The lug width is perfect and the strap fits between the lugs like a charm.  The tang buckle and strap work well together, no operation issues to be reported.  The strap was very easy to install and use.

Every strap features a unique camo pattern.

Comfort | 20 out of 20
The strap is extremely soft and probably the most comfortable rubber strap I have ever worn.  Very pliable without being flimsy.  I wish Panerai OEM rubber straps were this soft!  The type of rubber that Horus chose for these straps is absolutely perfect for comfort.  The relatively flat design of the tang buckle and its properly deburred edges make this buckle very comfortable on the wrist.  It is simply amazing how this strap feels on the wrist and how much better it is compared to Panerai OEM rubber straps in terms of comfort.  However, keep in mind that there is a certain amount of luck when it comes to maximum comfort and straps with predefined holes.  With my 6.5" wrist, I have to use the second hole from the lug to the buckle.  Luckily for me, the second hole is perfect for my wrist size.

Your choice of brushed or PVD finish for the tang buckle.

The most comfortable strap I have ever worn.

Value | 17 out of 20
The Horus camo straps for Panerai are $145 each, which includes a tang buckle of your choice.  Though not absurdly expensive like other aftermarket rubber straps out there, it is still on the high side.  For comparison purposes, the Panerai OEM rubber strap retails for $170 and aftermarket rubber straps for Panerai (in the same style as the Panerai OEM strap) sell anywhere from $15 to $40 per strap.  Obviously, none of them have the cool camo print that Horus offers.  Moreover, I have personally tried several aftermarket rubber straps for Panerai and none come even close to the quality and comfort of this strap.  Without considering the unique camo print on the strap, I can honestly say that I prefer these straps over Panerai OEM rubber straps.  Though I feel that these straps could be priced a bit lower, it is $145 that you will not regret spending.  I must give credit to Horus for executing these straps so well.  I love this strap so much that I will be adding the green camo version shortly!

TOTAL SCORE: 92 out of 100

Unique look, superb comfort, and excellent quality... win win win.

Omega Apollo 11 50th Anniversary visits Malibu. The Hulk at the Avengers Headquarters. Color coordinated 💙🤍💙🤍 Slowly started to eat out again… not sure that I really missed dining at a restaurant that much 🤔. Anyone else feel the same? They don’t make them like they used to. There is something special about white dial PAMs 😍. Kabobs 🍢 and watches⌚️.
Enjoying my new @montawatch (@everestbands) leather watch roll. Top quality all around, highly recommended. A pair of beautiful AP watches hides inside… Which color should I go with? ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 The Chanel J12 GMT. Happy Saturday everyone! Not your typical watch ☠️ One of my favorite PAMs, the 968.
Best part of the Prism watch case from @delugsstraps? The cover also serves as a pad! Perfect place to lay your watches on once you take them out of the holders. 3 very different black watches 🖤🖤🖤. Which one would you choose? I still think that this variant of the Speedmaster is gorgeous 😍. My Luminor case trio... 911, 563, and 416. Safely stored in the @delugsstraps Prism case. Who knows which one of these three is a regular production model? I’ll stick to this Speedmaster 😉.
